Support the Troops: Packages From Home Campaign![Packages From Home Logo.png](/Membership/SiteAssets/Pages/Community/VolunteerDay/Packages%20From%20Home%20Logo.png)
Convention Trade Show - August 20, 2015
The IIABAZ Consumer Public Relations Committee sponsored a drive
to collect items for our brave men and women of the US Armed Forces at the Convention Trade Show on Thursday, August 20, 2015. With the help of Arizona-based Packages from
Home, we donated over 7,000 items from 2-7 p.m. on that Thursday to help both those serving overseas and our
veterans who are struggling to make their transition back here at home.
The primary purpose of Packages from Home is to provide food, personal
care and recreational items to deployed American troops, at no cost to them.
They collect donated items from generous patriotic citizens who live across
America. Their staff and volunteers carefully pack the donations into U.S. Post
Office flat-rate priority mail boxes. The boxes are then mailed to U.S.
servicemen and women who are deployed overseas. In 2012 they expanded their
mission based on the needs of our veterans who were in transition, homeless or
at risk of becoming homeless.
Although
we supported all our troops, in the spirit of competition, we welcomed
donations to your favorite branch of service(Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines). Arizona Couri Associates donated more than 3,300 items for the Army in honor of the three military sons of Mike and Phyllis Zehring of Mesa, Arizona. The Mahoney Group got in the spirit involving their multiple locations in the efforts and donated several thousands of items. Packages from Home staff said that the drive "killed it" in terms of how our drive compared in items/dollars donated in one campaign drive. Thank you to all who donated!

special thanks to all the Members for their support and allowing people time
during a busy workday to attend. It wasn't surprising

great - Not just for the good work but it really energized our
industry.
